HAMPTON COURT

Before we returned to the manor, we stopped by at Hampton Court, the home of two English kings: William III and Henry VIII. The palace was huge; every time we hit the back of it, we'd discover another courtyard and another wing of the house. I wish I lived there!

HAMPTON COURT - Kitchens

These pictures are from around the kitchen and stable areas of Hampton Court.

The different kitchen rooms, including a bakery and a butcher shop. It reminded us of Diagon Alley.

HAMPTON COURT - Gardens

The Gardens at Hampton Court were absolutely enormous. There were three of them behind the house, and the largest one stretched so far out that I couldn't see the end of it. The picture to the right is of the smallest and most decorative garden. It was very well-kept, and possibly my favorite part of the entire tour at Hampton Court.

HARLAXTON - Dorm Life

So this is the first wave of Harlaxton photos. Here we go. This is my dorm room in the Carriage house of the manor. It’s pretty standard as far as dorm rooms go. It’s very similar to American dorm rooms. My bunk is on top. I always wanted a bunk bed when I was a kid, but I’m afraid that the appeal of it has worn of in my old age.

For my sister: this is a picture of the toilet. We share two toilets and three showers between nine people. Again fairly similar to America. The only difference is that the toilet bowl is a lot deeper and holds less water. We don’t have any bidets at the manor, but I did have one in my hotel room in London. (More on that at a later date.)

HARLAXTON - Carriage House

This is the outside of the Carriage House, which is the building where my room is. It is a separate building from the Manor House, and is located about 300 meters down the hill from the main building. It’s very toasty compared with the manor, which is nice.

HARLAXTON - Schroeder Lounge

This is Schroeder Lounge, which is one of two main rooms that students like to hang out in. The advantage to this one is that it is across the hall from the refectory, so people often wait here to before meal times. (Featuring my friend Sara, playing the inquisitive student.)
